Inaugural Apple Pie Bake-Off Downtown – Oct. 17

Marquette, MichiganOctober 15, 2015 – The inaugural Apple Pie Bake-Off will be held at the Downtown Marquette Farmers Market on Saturday, October 17.

Bakers interested in participating should prepare their original, home-baked pie and bring it to the Marquette Commons building between 10:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, October 17. Judging will begin at 11:00 a.m.

The official rules are as follows:

  1. Amateur bakers only.
  2. Bakers may submit one pie per person.
  3. Pies must be complete and ready for judging at time of entry.
  4. Any submitted pie is to be the sole work of the entrant.
  5. Pies must be made from scratch (crust and filling).
  6. All pies must contain apples and have a crust.
  7. All parts of the submitted entry must be edible and prepared in a sanitary environment.
  8. Pies must be accompanied by a copy of the recipe and a serving utensil.

Judging will be performed by a panel of judges selected by the Downtown Marquette Farmers Market Manager. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place, and be announced at 12:00 p.m. Entrants may pick up their serving plates and utensils after the announcement of the winning entries. The Downtown Marquette Farmers Market is not responsible for any items left behind at the end of the event.
