Great American Disposal Assists Negaunee – Sept. 29

Negaunee, MichiganSeptember 29, 2015 – The City of Negaunee, through a contract with Great American Disposal, will have a leaf pickup on Monday November 2nd thru Friday November 6th. Residents must bag all leaves and have them ready for collection by 7:00 a.m. Residents are to place the bagged leaves at the edge of the road, in the same vicinity as where their trash is typically picked up. Please keep the bagged leaves separate from the trash so collection work crews can properly dispose of all materials. Bagged leaves not at the curb by 7:00 a.m. may not be picked up. Leaves will not be picked up from alleys.

Residents are NOT allowed to place or rake leaves into the street. Leaves may cause storm sewers to plug leading to flooding when it rains. According to City Ordinance (Sec. 1060.06c) all yard waste is to be placed in a compost site.

CITY OF NEGAUNEE COMPOST SITE

The City of Negaunee’s compost site (located on County Road 480 across from the Wastewater Treatment Plant) is open daily. Scheduled hours are from dawn to dusk. Please note the site may be inaccessible during inclement weather.

The compost site will accept grass clippings, sod, garden debris, and brush and tree limbs up to 6 inches in diameter. Please empty any bags and place them in the trash cans provided. Dumping of compost materials by the entrance gates or along the roadway is prohibited. Individuals caught dumping in this area will be fined.
