Organizations Collaborate For Fourth Of July Celebration

On Tuesday, August 11, 2015, a group of organizations who have traditionally coordinated Marquette’s Fourth of July parade, fireworks display and International Food Fest met to discuss a collaboration which will serve to unify the community’s Independence Day celebration and enhance what is already hailed as the “Greatest Fourth in the North”. Marquette Noon Kiwanis sponsors the annual Fourth of July parade, which features over 80 units annually.

In recent years, the Marquette Area Fourth of July Fireworks Committee has committed to the task of fundraising for the community’s fireworks display, with support from the Rotary Club of Marquette and Marquette Rotary West. Held in conjunction with the Fourth of July, the Marquette County Exchange Club has organized the International Food Fest in Mattson Lower Harbor Park for the past thirty years, which remains a mainstay of the holiday festivities. Together, these organizations, along with the Marquette Chamber of Commerce, are partnering to manage fundraising, promotion and organization of the Fourth of July celebration as a whole. Representatives from each organization will serve on a joint committee to oversee coordination of the events.

For additional information contact Tom Baldini, Marquette Area Fourth of July Fireworks Committee Chair, at 906-228-9579.
