(Marquette, MI) – The Department of Natural Resources today announced that the Michigan State Waterways Commission will hold its next regular meeting at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, in the Lakeview Arena Citizen’s Forum Room, 401 E. Fair St., Marquette, Michigan 49855. Prior to the meeting, commissioners also will hold a work session from 8 to 9 a.m. in the same conference room.
The work session may include discussion of various topics proposed by members. Meeting topics will include approval of prior meeting minutes, Waterway Capital Outlay Project Plans for 2016 and updates as indicated on the agenda.
The Michigan State Waterways Commission is an advisory group, created by Public Act 451 of 1994, Part 781, to address issues concerning public boating opportunities in the state of Michigan, including acquisition, construction and maintenance of recreational harbors, channels, docking and launching facilities, administration of commercial docks in the Straits of Mackinac, and to advise on regulations and grant funding for the Great Lakes Harbors of Refuge.
