Marquette – The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will revisit the art of macrame during a program on Monday, August 24 from 2 to 4 p.m. in 404A Cohodas Hall on the campus of Northern Michigan University.
Dawn Hoffman will explain how macrame was long crafted by sailors, particularly in ornamental knotting forms, to decorate everything from knife handles to bottles to parts of ships. Participants also will learn fundamental knotting techniques. Basic materials will be provided.
The cost is $3 for NCLL members and $8 for non-members, plus a $5 lab fee. Register by Monday, August 17 by calling 227-2979.
