Percussion Ensemble Plays Global Music April 11th at NMU

MARQUETTE, MI – The Northern Michigan University Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of James A. Strain, will present a concert titled “Around the World in 60 Minutes” at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 11, in Reynolds Recital Hall.  Admission is free.

The concert features music from Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Japan and the United States. The ensemble is comprised of NMU students who perform on numerous kinds of drums, vibes, xylophones and other percussion instruments from around the world, often indigenous to specific cultures. The concert features music composed by Schinstine, Kumor, Faini, Harding, Gipson and Levitan.
