MARQUETTE, MI – In honor of National Library Week Peter White Public Library invites film fans to a spring break celebration of award winning films inspired by well loved books from April 7 through April 9 at 3:00pm daily in the library’s Community room.
National Library Week is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation’s libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support. All types of libraries – school, public, academic and special – participate.
The festival begins on Tuesday, April 7 with showing of The Black Stallion, based on the book by Walter Farley. From its turbulent beginning in a storm-swept sea to its unforgettable horse race finale, this film is a modern-day movie landmark. It is “a wonderful experience…for adults and for kids” according to Roger Ebert. Starring Kelly Reno, Mickey Rooney and Teri Garr, the two time Oscar nominee was released in 1979, rated G, and runs for 118 minutes.
Viewers are welcome to bring their own snacks and enjoy the Blu-ray versions of the feature films, in a cafe setting.
There is no admission charge thanks to sponsorship by the Friends of the Peter White Public Library. For more information visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
