MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN – Vintage Cinema presents a screening of Robert Wise’s “West Side Story” starring Natalie Wood, Richard Beymer and Rita Moreno on Monday, April 6 at 1:30 pm in the Peter White Public Library Community Room.
Directed by two time Oscar winner Robert Wise, this romantic musical drama was adapted from the Broadway show and was inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The film is set in New York City in the mid-1950s, and explores the rivalry between two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds.
Released in 1961, “West Side Story” won ten Academy Awards including Best Picture, is rated PG, shown in color and runs for 152 minutes.
