Train Wreck Historian to Speak at Curtis Library on Train Day

Collisions. . .derailings. . . explosions. . . Michigan Rail historian Mark Worrall has cataloged over 5,000 train wrecks! Worrall will be in Curtis for Train Day, June 30. His presentation at the library begins at 3:00 pm. Worrall has studied Michigan railroad history extensively, and co-authored two books Michigan Rail Disasters 1900-1940 and Detroit, Toledo, and Milwaukee Railroad. Mark Worrall is the president and chairman of the Michigan Railroad Association Conference this coming October.

Also at Curtis Library, the Upper Michigan Central Model Railroad Club will have a model train display. The UPCMRR Club is based in Escanaba, but will be following the rails to Curtis for Train Day. Club president Darryl Bernett and past president Gary Stiles will explain how to build a model train. They’re on track at the library at 1:00 pm. All aboard!

Trains will be celebrated throughout the village of Curtis on June 30. Come enjoy an All Aboard Burger or Hobo Stew with a Loose Caboose or Train Wrecks drink! View collections of train gear, date nails, train sets, maps and more—even Thomas the Tank Engine will be there. With “Express” sales throughout the village, free “observation car” (pontoon) rides, Curtis is a train stop you won’t want to miss! J#########

Free tickets with all the details will be available at entrances to town on Train Day, and at the library.

Here’s a ticket for you! All aboard!
