Art Talk at NMU Rescheduled for Feb. 27

A faculty presentation on the “gothic” in art, which was postponed by weather last week, has been rescheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at Northern Michigan University’s DeVos Art Museum.

Art history professor Mitsutoshi Oba will present an overview of the idea of the “gothic” throughout history and how it is presented in today’s popular culture in room 165 of the Art and Design Building. The presentation will begin with 30 minutes of curated film clips that utilize gothic themes and symbols and then move into his talk on the subject.

Also at the DeVos Art Museum is ArtLAB3, five new mini-exhibitions of student work on display through March 8.

DeVos Art Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and 1-4 p.m. weekends.
