HOUGHTON, MICHIGAN – Caring for Someone with Memory Loss? Attend FREE Creating Confident Caregivers Workshop!!!
Creating Confident Caregivers is an exciting new program in select regions of Michigan, for family caregivers of persons with dementia and/or memory loss. Highlighting the Savvy Caregiver training program, Creating Confident Caregivers is a six-session workshop led by trained dementia care specialists. This university tested program provides participants with information, skills and attitudes to manage stress and increase their effectiveness as a Caregiver.
Creating Confident Caregivers is once again available in Houghton through a Federal grant from the U.S. Administration on Aging to the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging and the U.P. Area Agency on Aging/UPCAP. There is no charge to participants for the sessions or materials an participant who successfully complete the workshop may qualify for a cash incentive. In addition, Respite care while attending the sessions may be available through participating area agencies as needed.
The next “Creating Confident Caregivers” workshop begins Tuesday, January 6th, 2014 at Copper Co. Mental Health Inst. 900 W. Sharon Ave. Houghton, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. The class will meet weekly for 6 weeks.
