Marquette – Northern Michigan University’s International Education Week (IEW) will present Mary Stunkard from clinical laboratory sciences addressing unclean water as a major source of morbidity and mortality in developing countries and the bio-sand filter’s ability to clean contaminated water, on Monday, November 17 at 3 p.m. in West Science room 1607.
Her talk will focus on the science behind the filtration system, installation, maintenance and education for users as applied in Haiti and Honduras.
IEW is a joint initiative of the U.S. Departments of State and Education to recognize the benefits of international education and exchange. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the NMU international programs office at 227-2510.
