MARQUETTE, MI – The Northern Michigan University music department will present a jazz concert and student recital on Tuesday, Oct. 7, in Reynolds Recital Hall. Both events are free.
The NMU Jazz Band and Combo will perform a tribute to the well-known pianist and composer Thelonious Monk at 7:30 p.m. Program selections will include ‘Round Midnight, Well You Needn’t and Straight, No Chaser.
A student recital is scheduled earlier at 4 p.m. Student recitals include an ensemble of instrumental and vocal acts from students of varying skill levels. These students are either taking private lessons or enrolled in chamber ensembles in the music department.
