Marquette, Michigan – 3rd ANNUAL HALLOWEEN SPECTACLE On October 25, 2014 the City and Downtown Development Authority will host a large-scale community outdoor performance of giant puppetry, percussion and theatrical dance. This years’ theme is Spirits of the Lake. As the evening grows dark, the community is invited to join in processions throughout the City converging in the Marquette Commons at 112 S. 3rd St, Marquette, MI.
Procession: sunset 6:30 pm We invite all costumed revelers to join in the processions from their neighborhood location, which are located at the Peter White Public Library, Mattson Harbor Park, Harlow Park and the Rock Street Parking Lot to walk to the Marquette Commons with the Spectacle cast. Those who participate in the parade will have a reserved place to sit at the Spectacle.
Spectacle: 7 pm, Marquette Commons Lake Superior never gives up her dead, except for one night. This year’s theme, Spirits of the Lake, is in tribute to an original poem, written by the U.P. Poet Laureate, Russell Thorburn titled, “The Drowned Sailor’s Lament.” The audience will witness ghost puppets, dancing fire, musical performances, zombies from the deep, and much more.
There will be two free workshops open to the public leading up to the Spectacle. A Zombie Makeup workshop will be held on Sunday, October 19 at 1-5 pm and there will be a Pumpkin Carving workshop on Saturdays, October 18 and October 25 located at the Marquette Commons at 10 am-1 pm.
