Marquette, MI – Peter White Public Library’s Film Club invites the public to a free screening of the modern classic film “My Favorite Year” on Thursday, October 16 at 6:30 pm in the library’s Community Room.
Benjy Stone, a young TV comedy writer played by Mark Linn-Baker, reminisces about the summer of 1954, when he met his idol, swashbuckling actor Allan Swann, played by Peter O’Toole. Not so famous anymore, Swann shows up on the set, roaring drunk. About to be dumped by the show’s director, Benjy intervenes and promises to keep Swann on the straight and narrow during the week leading up to the show.
Also starring Jessica Harper and Joseph Bologna, “My Favorite Year” earned Best Actor Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations for O’Toole. The film was released in 1982, is rated PG and runs for 92 minutes. Light refreshments will be served.
There is no admission charge thanks to sponsorship by the Friends of the Peter White Public Library. For more information visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
