DocuMonday presents the documentary film “20 Feet From Stardom” on Monday, July 7 at 7:00 pm in the Peter White Public Library Community Room.
This compelling film shines a spotlight on the untold true story of the backup singers behind some of the greatest musical legends of the 21st century. Triumphant and heartbreaking in equal measure, the film is both a tribute to the unsung voices who brought shape and style to popular music and a reflection on the conflicts, sacrifices and rewards of a career spent harmonizing with others.
“20 Feet From Stardom” features artists with uniquely fascinating, personal stories along with archival footage and interviews with Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Mick Jagger and Sting. These world-famous figures take a backseat to the diverse array of backup singers whose lives and stories take center stage in the film.
The 2014 winner of the Academy Award for Best Documentary, the film was released in 2013, is rated PG-13, runs for 91 minutes. There is no admission charge thanks to sponsorship by the Friends of the Peter White Public Library.
