Marquette – The 6th Annual Marquette Sunrise Dog Dash will be held on Friday, July 4, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. beginning and ending at Picnic Rocks in Marquette.
It is a fun run/walk with your dog in the cool and quiet of the morning….away from the holiday noise and crowds. The dash will feature distances of either 2.5 or 1 mile. Awards will be presented to the fastest overall male and female owners, as well as to the fastest boy and girl (age 12 and under) in both events.
A dog costume contest with prizes will be awarded immediately following the run/walk. Registration is $15 and includes a dog neckerchief (while supplies last). A printable entry form can be downloaded from www.upaws.org. Forms are also available at the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter, 84 Snowfield Road in Negaunee Township. Registration can also be done on event day at Picnic Rocks.
All proceeds will go to help the almost 2000 homeless animals cared for by UPAWS each year. For more information, visit www.upaws.org or call 475-6661.
