The Downtown Marquette Farmers Market Prepares for Fifteenth Season, Starting Saturday May 17th

MARQUETTE, MI – The Downtown Marquette Farmers Market will kick-off the fifteenth season on Saturday, May 17 for its Grand Opening from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The market will showcase many of the usual favorite vendors, including a handful of new additions. There will be a total of 43 season vendors, 36 of which are returning from last year while seven vendors will be brand new. Shoppers visiting the market will find a great selection of local artwork, baked goods, flowers, live plants and fresh produce. Opening day will also include live music by Troy Graham and Michigan State University Extension will be providing workshops on Smart Gardening. There will be two sessions, the first to be held at 10:00 a.m. titled “Introduction to Smart Gardening” and another at noon titled “Smart Veggie Container Gardening”.

The Downtown Marquette Farmers Market accepts credit and debit cards and SNAP Benefits/Bridge Cards which will be taken starting opening day, while Project FRESH, Market Fresh and Double Up Food Bucks will be accepted beginning June 1.

The Downtown Marquette Farmers Market will be held every Saturday, rain or shine, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. through October 25 at the Marquette Commons, 112 South Third Street. For more information regarding the market please visit www.mqtfarmersmarket.com.
