MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN – The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that it was one of three law enforcement agencies in the country to receive a new 2014 Dodge Charger AWD pursuit patrol vehicle from Chrysler. In mid-December 2013 the Sheriff’s Office was notified by Chrysler that they would like to provide a fully out fitted new “All-Wheel Drive” police patrol vehicle for a 12 to 24 month test and evaluation period. In April 2014 the Sheriff’s Office took delivery of the vehicle through Fox of Negaunee. The installed police equipment was provided by Setina Corp. The Sheriff’s Office paid $1.00 for the vehicle and $1.00 for the installed equipment. Radio, video and computer equipment was installed by ELCOM Inc. of Marquette. The vehicle cost to the Sheriff’s Office is less than $2,000.00. With this program all of the maintenance is provided by Chrysler Corp. Vehicle diagnostics and driving information will be sent to Chrysler via a wireless data logger installed in the vehicle.
The vehicle officially was placed into patrol service on April 28, 2014. The vehicle is a welcomed addition to the Sheriff’s as the first all-wheel drive police pursuit rated patrol sedan. The vehicle is also being evaluated by the Michigan State Police and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office.
