Iron River, Michigan – The U.S. Forest Service spent over $1 Billion on contracting in Fiscal Year 2013. USFS manages over 193 million acres of national forest. Within Northern Michigan and Northern Wisconsin, there are four national forests:

- Huron-Manistee National Forest – Cadillac, MI
- Ottawa National Forest – Ironwood, MI
- Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest – Park Falls and Rhinelander, WI
