Design and Perception Addressed April 18th at NMU

MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN – The next psychology colloquium at Northern Michigan University will be titled “Human-Centered Design Applied To Perceptual Paradigms.” Master’s degree candidate Jonathan Fancher will give the presentation at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, in 167 Gries Hall. The public is invited.

Fancher will discuss three projects designed to gather information on how humans interact with their surrounding environment and the world: an interactive table; a device that creates the sensation of bugs crawling on or below the skin’s surface to study neural mechanisms that affect haptic (touch) hallucinations; and an experiment that studies tactile spatial acuity through laser-cut stimuli and recording movements of exploration.
