MARQUETTE, Mich.— Recreational Sports at Northern Michigan University is hosting Rec Sports Mania on Saturday, April 12 at the Physical Education Instruction Facility. Rec Sports Mania is a day dedicated to celebrating fitness and competition. It consists of a strength competition and a climbing competition.
The Superior Climbing Competition begins with the youth superior climbing division at 9 a.m. and the adults begin at 11 a.m. at the PEIF climbing wall. It is separated into beginner, intermediate and advanced levels for both men and women.
The Great North Strength Competition begins at 4 p.m. on the PEIF rec basketball courts. Competitors must be 14 years and older to participate. Divisions will be determined by gender and weight class. Events include max bench, squat and combination competitions.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three competitors in each division of the competitions. Registration is $15 and includes a T-shirt, goodie bag and automatic entry for raffle prizes. Register at the PEIF front desk.
