NCLL Ventures Outside Comfort Zone April 22nd

Marquette, Mich. —A Northern Center for Lifelong Learning workshop will help participants see the value of “Stepping Out of the Comfort Zone” by keeping their brains active and engaged throughout life. It will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, April 22, at the First United Methodist Church located at 111 E. Ridge St. This event is free for NCLL members and $5 for non-members.

Retired NMU education professor Dave Blomquist and his wife, Mary Lou, moved to China for three months in 2012 to teach English to students at Xinyang Vocational and Technical College. The challenges of the initial language and cultural barriers forced the couple to quickly adapt to a new environment. This workshop aims to persuade others of the opportunities that await by simply stepping out of their comfort zones.

“The older you get, it’s important to keep active, to keep those synapses cracking away,” Dave Blomquist said.

Register by Tuesday, April 15, by calling 227-2979.
