NMU Music Performances Planned March 28th

MARQUETTE, Mich. — Northern Michigan University’s music department will host various student performances to close out March. All are free and will be held in Reynolds Recital Hall.

The Saxophone Quartet Concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 28. The NMU Saxophone Quartet is composed of the Fall 2013 scholarship ensemble of Brittany Olson, Timo Ovist, Nathan Selfridge and Audra Hagan. The ensemble has prepared a recital each semester and has played several times at student recitals and other concerts, as well as requested performances for special events. The quartet auctioned off a concert for a benefit for the Women’s Center.

The OM (open mind) Chamber Ensemble will perform at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 29. The OM Chamber Ensemble is made up of students with the intellectual curiosity to explore all types of music. The program will consist of avant garde or unusual chamber music that should intrigue the curious listener and may inspire the desire to hear more.

A violin recital is also scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 29.
