MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN – Afternoon Classic Films presents a screening of “Von Ryan’s Express” starring Frank Sinatra and Trevor Howard on Monday, April 7 at 1:30 pm in the Peter White Public Library Community Room.
This World War II war adventure film is about a group of Allied prisoners who, after Italy’s armistice with the Allies in September 1943, conduct a daring mass escape by hijacking a freight train and fleeing through German-occupied Italy to Switzerland. Based on the novel by David Westheimer, “Von Ryan’s Express” became one of Frank Sinatra’s most successful films.
Released in 1965 and shot on location in Italy and Spain, the film is shown in color and runs for 117 minutes.
