Shakespeare Readers Meet on Wednesday, April 2nd

MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN – Shakespeare Readers will meet on Wednesday, April 2 at 6:30 pm in the Peter White Public Library’s Shiras Room for a reading of “As You Like It.”

This comedy’s central character is Rosalind, who is raised at the court of her uncle with her cousin Celia. Rosalind falls in love with a young man named Orlando, against the wishes of her uncle, Duke Frederick. Celia and Touchstone, the court’s fool, help Rosalind devise an elaborate scheme to finally unite the two young lovers.

The play features one of Shakespeare’s most famous speeches, “All the world’s a stage”, and is the origin of the phrase “too much of a good thing”. The play remains a favorite among audiences and has been adapted for radio, film, and musical theater.

Shakespeare Readers is a group for anyone who is intrigued with reading the works of William Shakespeare. They meet on the first Wednesday of each month and new readers are always welcome.
