Michigan Tech Archives Recognized as National Heritage Site

HOUGHTON,MICHIGAN — Michigan Technological University’s Archives have been recognized as a Keweenaw National Historical Park Heritage Site. The Archives collection focuses on social, cultural and economic aspects of the Western Upper Peninsula and Michigan Tech.

Julie Blair, interim archivist and strategic initiatives librarian at Michigan Tech, says the designation will create more opportunities for Tech to collaborate with other participating heritage sites, such as the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum, the Houghton County Historical Museum and the Calumet Theatre. She also hopes the Archives will see an increase in out-of-town visitors wanting to find out more about the area.
