Readers Theater welcomes the public to join in a reading of “The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe” by Jane Wagner on Thursday, January 16 at 7:00pm in the Peter White Public Library Shiras Room.
Written as a vehicle for Lily Tomlin, this satire delivers a comic and painful dose of truth. Trudy the bag lady, Wagner’s central character, tries to explain modern American material society to an alien (i.e., interstellar) committee. The one woman play earned Tomlin a Tony Award and an American Comedy Award.
Readers Theater is a group of adults, who are interested in drama and are willing and able to read a scripted role. They meet on the third Thursday of each month to read plays for enjoyment. New readers are always welcome.
