The Hiawatha Music Co-op will sponsor a workshop, “Songs of the Carter Family” on Saturday, April 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Marquette.
The workshop, led by Phil, Annette and Salem Watts, will expose participants to the history of the original Carter family, their musical style and harmony, and teach several of the Carter family songs.
The workshop fee is $25 for those 18 and over and $15 for the 17 and under group. Proceeds from the workshop will go toward a scholarship for a local young person to attend a one week music camp at the Augusta Heritage Center in West Virginia.
