ESCANABA, MICHIGAN — Tickets are now on sale for the eighth annual UPtoberfest beer and wine tasting event, set for Escanaba on Sat., Oct. 12. The festival will once again run from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. (ET) along First Avenue North in downtown Escanaba, immediately behind Hereford & Hops Steakhouse & Brewpub.
Tickets are $30 in advance online at www.uptoberfest.org. They can also be purchased at Hereford and Hops, Positively-The Center for Success and Bobaloon’s Café in Escanaba and White’s Party Store in Marquette.
UPtoberfest is hosted by Bay de Noc Brewers, Inc., a home brewers’ club, to showcase craft beers and wines from throughout the region. The club also offers education about the brewing and wine-making process and supports local non-profit organizations, according to President Tom Uelmen. All profits from UPtoberfest will benefit the United Way of Delta County.
Guests will be able to sample more than 40 microbrews and 20 wines from across Michigan in keepsake souvenir glasses. The ticket price includes a large selection of foods paired to the beers and wines offered at the festival. The food is being specially prepared by chef Mark Ammel, owner of Bobaloon’s Café in Escanaba.
Once again this year, there’ll be a special emphasis on beers and wines made in the Upper Peninsula, according to Uelmen. Five U.P brewers will be represented, including Hereford & Hops, Soo Brewing, Keweenaw Brewing, Blackrocks, and Ore Dock. U.P. wineries on hand include Threefold Vine Winery and Algomah Acres Meadery. The Brewers’ Club will also conduct a beer brewing demonstration, and there will be live music by the band “ToHuBoHu.”
