To provide parents with the most up to date information on topics that affect their children, an evening presentation will be held at Bothwell Middle School on May 15 from 6:00-7:00 pm with Dr. John Lehtinen, M.D.
Dr. Lehtinen, Addictionologist, will be presenting on a variety of topics that are both timely and of upmost importance to families today. Parents should leave with more knowledge about drug addiction and treatment for our youth, risk factors in abuse and addiction, the fundamental and lasting changes in the brain of one who uses for a prolonged period of time, and other issues that present serious problems for our youth.
There will be time for questions after a presentation that you will find both informative and illuminating. We feel an urgency regarding the need for the school community to partner with our parents to do whatever we can to help prevent our young people from the hazards of drug abuse and addiction. This presentation will facilitate awareness of the problem related to early drug use. The younger a child uses drugs and alcohol, the greater the chances of addiction and the more damaging are the consequences to both the child’s developing brain and the impact on his young life. Our youth need to get this message and, as parents, your voice is the one they will hear and care about the most.
