Marquette, Michigan — Fall Flicks celebrates the One Book One Community Read with a screening of “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World” on Tuesday, October 15 at 5:30 pm in the Peter White Public Library Community Room.
Taking audiences on a humorous, moving, and intimate journey against an epic backdrop of Earth’s final days, insurance salesman Dodge, played by Steve Carell, has always played by the rules of life, while his neighbor Penny, played by Kiera Knightley, is an extroverted woman who hasn’t. From these opposite perspectives, both choose to navigate the impending end of the world together.
The film was released in June 2012, is rated R and runs for 101 minutes. Fall Flicks invites the public to bring their own takeout supper and enjoy this recently feature film in a dinner theater setting.
Marquette’s One Book One Community Read is “The Age of Miracles” by Karen Thompson Walker. The “One Book, One Community” program encourages the Marquette County and Northern Michigan University community to read the same book and to come together to discuss it in a variety of settings. There is no admission charge thanks to sponsorship by the Friends of the Peter White Public Library. For more information visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
