Marquette Regional History Center – Special Exhibit, “The Longyear Legacy” Starts September 16th

(Marquette, Michigan) — The Marquette Regional History Center announces the Special Exhibit, “The Longyear Legacy” from September 16—December 28, 2013.

John M. Longyear has had a lasting impact on Marquette. Longyear was an avid photographer, world traveler and successful landlooker. In addition to his interests in mining and lumber, he operated a coal mine on the arctic island of Sptizbergen in Norway. His philanthropy and vision can be seen around our city. This is an opportunity to learn more about his interesting life story.
