(Marquette, Mi) — Afternoon Classic Films presents a screening of “Anatomy of a Murder” on Monday, September 9 at 1:30 pm in the Peter White Public Library Community Room.
This courtroom drama, filmed on location in Marquette County, is based on the best selling Robert Travers’ novel and features a musical score as well as a cameo appearance by Duke Ellington. The film stars James Stewart as Paul Biegler, a laid back, southern lawyer defending a short-tempered Army Lieutenant, played by Ben Gazzara, who is accused of murdering his wife’s rapist.
The seven time Oscar nominee, including Best Actor for Stewart and Best Director for Otto Preminger, also stars Lee Remick and George C. Scott.
“Anatomy of a Murder” was released in 1959, is shown in black and white and runs for 161 minutes.
