Bids close Sept. 4 in auction of state-owned surplus land

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources reminds potential land buyers that  25 parcels of state-owned land totaling 315 acres in nine Michigan counties  are currently for sale by sealed-bid auction at www.michigan.gov/landforsale. The auction began Aug. 7, and will run through Sept. 4, 2013. Properties in Alpena, Arenac, Gladwin, Lake, Montmorency, Muskegon, Otsego, Presque Isle and Saginaw counties are available for bid.

These properties range in size from less than an acre to 40 acres and vary in character. Some are wooded tracts; others are in close proximity to lakes, ponds and recreational trails. Sealed bids must be postmarked by midnight on Sept. 4, and will be opened on Sept. 25.

Details about each property (including the minimum bid amount, photos, map, property descriptions and conditions of sale) are available by clicking on “Land Auction”. Instructions to submit a bid can be found on the printable bid form.

Other unsold land from previous auctions remains available for purchase at the listed price. View these properties by clicking “Surplus Land to BUY NOW!”

Printed property information and bid forms may be requested from the DNR Real Estate Services Section, P.O. Box 30448, Lansing, MI 48909-7948 or by calling 517-373-1250.

These are tax-reverted properties isolated from other DNR-managed lands and do not meet the mission and goals of the department. Proceeds from sale provide future outdoor recreation opportunities in keeping with the mission of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
