Baraga County Memorial Hospital Hosts Kids’ Fitness Event at Baraga State Park Aug. 17

(Baraga, MI) – Kids in kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to the “Baraga County Kids Keep Fit in MI Big Green Gym” event at Baraga State Park on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This fitness-focused event is sponsored by Baraga County Memorial Hospital and will feature plenty of games, a free healthy lunch, lots of fun handouts and information on nutrition, youth and family fitness.

Some of the activities scheduled for the event include:

Dance, tumbling, yoga and aikido youth fitness classes
Nutrition
Gardening
Nature photography
Outdoor first aid
Obstacle course
Outdoor games
Camping 101
Story time
Face painting and more!

Activities will take place at the north end of Baraga State Park campground (campsites 72-74 and 1A-11K). Parking will be available in the park’s day-use area and ORV staging area.

Pre-registration is required to receive free lunch. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children must be in grades kindergarten-sixth, and family participation is encouraged. Call 906-524-3322 to pre-register.

This event is free to attend; however, a Recreation Passport is required for all vehicles entering Michigan state parks.
