MARQUETTE, Mich.—The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will offer the last of its three-hike program along the newly completed Iron Ore Heritage Trail at 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29. The Iron Ore Heritage Trail is a multi-use, year-round trail that shares the story of the Marquette Iron Range.
The NCLL’s Heritage Trail classes have divided up the 12 miles of the trail. This third and final section is a four-mile walk from Bagdad Pond to Walgreens Drug Store. Participants will meet at the east end of the Marquette Salvation Army parking lot, next to the U.P. Catholic Credit Union building. At the conclusion of the hike participants will be driven back to the Salvation Army starting point.
This class is free for NCLL members and $5 for non-members. Register by Monday, Aug. 19 by emailing ncll@nmu.eduor calling 906-227-2979. In case of rain the alternate day for the hike is 9 a.m. Friday, Aug 30. Participants are asked to dress for the weather and to wear appropriate footwear as part of the trail is gravel.
