Celebrating the release of his newest book, “From Moosehead to Misery Bay”, author and Finlandia professor, Lauri Anderson will give a talk on Tuesday, July 16 at 7:00 pm in the Peter White Public Library community room.
After writing seven books of short fiction, a novel, and a book of poetry, all with Finnish themes and characters, Lauri Anderson has finally written his memoir. In it, he tells stories of growing up in rural Maine, life in the Peace Corps in Nigeria, Truk Lagoon, and Turkey, and teaching at Finlandia University in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. With his typical humor and common-sense approach to life, Lauri expertly weaves together the stories that have brought him thus far.
Anderson is the chair of English at Finlandia where he set up a BA in English and a BA in Great Books. Recipient of nine grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, his books have been studied at universities, at the MLA and in dissertations and other literary critical studies and have been on Finnish National Television.
A book sale & signing follows the presentation which is open to the public at no admission charge. For more information call the library at 226-4318 or visit www.pwpl.info.
