A Fresh Start For Kids Clinic will be held on Wednesday, March 12 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Portage Health Medical Group Pediatric Offices, 500 Campus Drive in Hancock. Fresh Start is a monthly program for families in the Copper Country with children who are overweight and at risk for complications from obesity. It is not a diet program, but focuses on making positive changes in lifestyles habits that often contribute to weight gain. The program assessment includes a visity with a pediatrician, dietitian, exercise physiologist and social worker. The goal of the clinic is to make long-term patient change, from initial weight stability to an ultimate reduction in Body Mass Index. Physician referrals are not required to participate.
