Marquette, Michigan – In celebration of National Library Week, Peter White Public Library presents a screening of “Robot & Frank” on Tuesday, April 16 at 7:00 pm in the library’s Community Room.
Set in the near future, Frank Weld, an aging dad and a retired jewel thief played by Frank Langella, is losing his memory and is saddled with a caretaker robot in his home- a gift from his exasperated children. At 70, Frank is uncomfortable with most technology. The robot’s presence is, at first, annoying, and surreal. But, the robot quickly proves himself to be more than a machine or appliance and gradually succeeds at improving Frank’s health and well-being. As Frank’s health improves, so do his ambitions. The caretaker robot is programmed to find an activity to keep its elderly charge active and engaged. So the trouble begins….
Nominated for seven film festival awards, Robot and Frank was released in 2012, runs for 89 minutes. The film also stars Susan Sarandon, James Marsden and Liv Tyler.
National Library Week is an annual celebration that celebrates the importance of libraries in our communities and the expertise of library workers.
There is no admission charge thanks to sponsorship by the Friends of the Peter White Public Library. For more information visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
