(Ishpeming, MI, March 28, 2013) The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame, the national hall of fame for all ski sports in the United States is open to receiving nominations for the election of its next class of honorees. Nominations can be made by anyone and the deadline for the receipt of nominations is April 30, 2013.
All nominations are reviewed by a national Selection Committee. Those that meet the qualifying criteria are placed before a National Voting Panel of 100 experts from across the country. All nominees are judged by the level of excellence in their achievements as athletes or as contributors to the development of skiing and snowboarding. All must have achieved at least a high level of national impact or accomplishment. Athlete candidates in particular may come from a broad range of involvement in the sport either as racing competitors, freestylers and even as freeskiing and big mountain skiers and snowboarders.
The rules that govern the election of Honored Members to the Hall of Fame reflect the rich diversity of this sport. They may be found, along with the Nomination Forms on the national hall of Fame’s website: www.skihall.org. Nomination forms and advice on the process can also be obtained by contacting the Hall of Fame’s office via email: administrator@skihall.com or by telephone 906 485-6323.
Honored Membership in the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame is the highest honor awarded in the U.S. ski sports field. The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame is located in Ishpeming, Michigan, the birthplace of organized skiing in America. It has been providing permanent, respected national recognition as a Hall of Fame since 1956.
