Marquette – In celebration of National Poetry Month in April, Matthew Gavin Frank, author, poet, and educator, will read selections from his recently published poetry collection on Thursday, April 11 at 7 p.m. in the Shiras Room of the Peter White Public Library.
“The Morrow Plots” is a series of linked, research-based, murderous, scandalous poems investigating the bloody history of small Midwestern towns. The writings are inspired by an experimental cornfield at the University of Illinois that was established in 1876 as the first experimental corn field at an American college and continues to be used today. Known as the Morrow Plot, the area has been designated as a National Historic Landmark.
A book sale and signing opportunity will follow the presentation. There is no admission charge. For more information call the Peter White Public Library at 226-4318 or visit www.pwpl.info.
