Marquette, Michigan – The Superior Watershed Partnership (SWP) in cooperation with the City of Marquette will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, March 27th at 6:30 p.m. in the Public Forum room of Lakeview Arena. The purpose of the meeting is to review, and gather public input on, five conceptual designs developed for the potential redesign and restoration of a 3,000 foot section of Lakeshore Boulevard and the adjacent Lake Superior shoreline.

This project was possible thanks to a $58,000 grant from the Michigan Coastal Management Program and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The half mile section of Lake Superior shoreline targeted for restoration is currently heavily armored with a tall ridge of rock rip-rap that obscures the view of Lake Superior (see photo). The project included gathering public input and developing a series of potential design concepts with budget estimates. The City of Marquette will utilize public comments to help identify a preferred design option for the community.

For more information please contact the SWP (228-6095) or the City of Marquette (225-8380).
