Marquette – Shakespeare Readers will meet to read “Othello, the Moor of Venice” on Wednesday, January 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the Shiras Room of the Peter White Public Library.
Othello, the Moor of Venice, written around 1603, revolves around four central characters: Othello, a Moorish general in the Venetian army; his wife, Desdemona; his lieutenant, Cassio; and his trusted ensign, Iago. Because of its varied and current themes of racism, love, jealousy, and betrayal, Othello is still often performed and has been the basis for numerous adaptations.
Shakespeare Readers is a group for anyone who is intrigued with reading the works of William Shakespeare. They meet on the first Wednesday of each month and new members are always welcome.
