In honor of the recent film premiere of “The Hobbit,” the Peter White Public Library will host screenings of “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy on December 26, 27 and 28 in the library’s community room.
The Lord of the Rings film series is based on English author J. R. R. Tolkien‘s three-volume book of the same name. The films are, by subtitle, The Fellowship of the Ring released in 2001, The Two Towers releases in 2002, and The Return of the King released in 2003. They are all rated PG-13.
The film screening schedule is:
Wed. Dec.26 @ 5:00 pm: The Fellowship of the Ring; 178 min; An innocent hobbit of The Shire journeys with 8 companions to the fires of Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring & the dark lord Sauron forever. Stars: Elijah Wood; Ian McKellen, and Orlando Bloom.
Thurs. Dec. 27 @ 5:00 pm: The Two Towers; 179 min. While Frodo & Sam edge closer to Mordor with the help of the shifty Gollum, the divided fellowship makes a stand against Sauron’s new ally, Saruman, and his hordes of Isengard. Stars: Elijah Wood; Ian McKellen, and Viggo Mortensen.
Sat. Dec. 29 @ 1:00 pm: The Return of the King; 201 min. Aragorn leads the World of Men against Sauron’s army to draw the dark lord’s gaze from Frodo and Sam who are on the doorstep of Mount Doom with the One Ring. Stars: Elijah Wood, Viggo Mortensen, and Ian McKellen.
