Marquette – Dr. Mark Flaherty and the NMU Faculty and Friends Jazz Combo will offer an entertaining and educational concert featuring mid-century jazz music on Wednesday, October 24 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
The concert will feature performances of compositions by notable jazz artists who began their careers in Detroit in the 1940s and 1950s, including Milt Jackson, Curtis Fuller, Thad Jones, Pepper Adams, Tommy Flanagan, and many more.
Outstanding performers in the band include Mark Flaherty on trumpet, Steve Leuthold playing tenor saxophone and flute, Steve Grugin on trombone, Dave Ziegner playing guitar, Harry South on bass and James A. Strain on drums.
