Marquette – A Cabin Fever Days Multi-Media event “Folk Songs from “Michigan-I-O,” featuring the Lumber Jakki will be offered on Saturday, February 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Jamrich 103 at Northern Michigan University.
The event combines live performance with Lomax’s 1938 color movie footage and recorded sound. Some of these materials haven’t been heard or seen by the general public for more than seven decades. The Lumber Jakki, a trio comprised of Les Ross Sr., Randy Seppala and Oren Tikkanen, will be special guests for the evening. The group performs Finnish songs learned by Ross when he was a young man spending time with lumberjacks around his hometown of Eben.
Admission is free to the public, but donations are encouraged.
