Marquette – The DeVos Art Museum will present the exhibt “You Complete Me: Mediating Relationships in Contemporary Art” from Monday, October 1 through Sunday, November 11 at the museum on the campus of Northern Michigan University.
A listening party with Chicago-based InCUBATE and guest Eric May will be held on Thursday, October 18 at 8 p.m. at Upfront and Company in downtown Marquette.
This will be followed by a dance party with InCUBATE and May serving as DJs. InCUBATE is a research group dedicated to new approaches toward arts administration and funding. It is represented in the NMU exhibit.
“You Complete Me” features works that can be completed only with the involvement of others. This causes the artists and artwork to become mediators, asking the viewer to negotiate their perspective by becoming part of the work.
