Northern Nights Series Announced by Northern Michigan University

MARQUETTE, Mich.—Northern Nights is the new name for the Northern Michigan University Performing Arts Series, which has brought top-notch entertainment to campus and the Marquette community since 1989. Season ticket prices have also been reduced this year.
All shows begin at 7:30 p.m. on their respective dates. The schedule follows:
Friday, Sept. 8: Singer-songwriter Susan Werner, who blends her love of folk music and the great American songbook, will perform in Forest Roberts Theatre.
Saturday, Oct. 13: The Homemade Jamz Blues Band from Mississippi will bring its youthful exuberance to the Great Lakes Rooms of the University Center.
Friday, Nov. 16: Frontier Ruckus, an acoustic ensemble from Ann Arbor that has toured the United States and Europe, will perform in 102 Jamrich Hall.
Saturday, Jan. 26: The Young Dubliners, a Celtic rock band, will play in the Great Lakes Rooms of the University Center.
Saturday, March 16: Columbian Joropo folk group Cimarrón will perform in Forest Roberts Theatre.
Thursday, April 18: Three-time Grammy-nominated Latin jazz combo Tiempo Libre will close out the season with a show at Kaufman Auditorium.
Season tickets are more affordable, based on a new tiered price structure that factors in the cost of bringing each group to NMU.

Prices are as follows: students and kids, $20; NMU faculty/staff and seniors 60+, $60; general public, $85. Individual ticket prices vary and will be available beginning in August. Prices for the concert at Kaufman Auditorium include a $1 Kaufman Renovation Fee. Tickets are available at al NMU EZ Ticket outlets. They can also be purchased online at www.nmu.edu/tickets or by calling 227-1032. For more information, visit www.nmu.edu/northernnights or call 227-3212.
This year’s series is sponsored in part by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Ramada Inn.
