
Meet poet Traci Brimhall for a reading and discussion of her newest work on Thursday, September 13 at 7:00 pm in the Peter White Public Library Shiras Room. A fresh voice in the world of poetry, Brimhall’s second book, Our Lady of the Ruins (W.W. Norton, 2012), was selected for the 2011 Barnard Women Poets Prize.
Rookery, Brimhall’s first book, was published in 2010 and won the 2009 Crab Orchard Series in Poetry First Book Award and was a finalist for the ForeWord Book of the Year Award. Her poems have appeared in New England Review, Virginia Quarterly Review, Slate and several other publications.
A former Jay C. and Ruth Halls Poetry Fellow at the Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing and 2012 Summer Poet in Residence at the University of Mississippi, Brimhall is an Emerging Writer Fellow at The Writer’s Center in Washington, D.C. She currently teaches creative writing at Western Michigan University where she is a doctoral candidate and a King/Chávez/Parks Fellow.
